That’s so weird! I Thought I remembered the parents caving to Alice’s tantrum, tying the vase to the roof of the car and placing it in the garden (as it didn’t fit inside). Then Alice stopped caring about it at all, of course.
But looking into the original published strips I see that it’s all a figment of my imagination (kinda like Ernesto)… (°.°)
I appreciate that they’re both safely secured in their seats, but where are the lap belts? I’m old enough to remember those automated shoulder straps that still required one to manually put on the lap belt, but this strip isn’t that old! Or is their car that old? Wait, that didn’t work in rear seats. Ah, never mind…
Yeah, Alice. Know what I mean? They’re going to send you to the Big House, where you’ll be breaking rocks down into gravel, to replace what you stole. It’s called restitution.

Check the serial numbers on the gravel and see, it wasn’t even their gravel.

Wait… They didn’t buy the big vase?

Petey still has time to kvetch about that Evil Gnome sitting next to him; meantime, he can torment his sister! Arm-chewing can wait!!

Seriously, officer! It was the gnome that stole the rocks!

I was wondering why these looked familiar. They’re a decade old, just colorized. I’m so disappointed.

However I bet Petey really believes what he’s saying.

That’s not gravel; it’s gnome hockers.

But they have spoken to Ernesto who is real. And this is how the so called “Mandela Effect” starts. With a misrecollection.

Yeah, Petey, get back at her for yelling adult swim at you while wading in the ocean.
