People who don’t talk to their dogs have dogs who don’t understand human speech. My dogs invariably learn lots of human words and phrases, because my husband and I talk to them conversationally all the time. Some folks tie a dog to a tree all day, and shout “Sit!” “Stay!” “Come!” as the only so-called training, and then talk about how stupid dogs are. It’s like isolating a baby, and speaking to them in monosyllables, but expecting them to automatically pick up normal human speech and intelligence. If you have a stupid dog, maybe you only have yourself to blame!

I’d rather converse with my dogs and cats than with those nosy neighbors any day!

There’s one in every neighborhood! I live on ten acres in Montana and I have this woman who lives next to us and wants to tell me what to do.

It’s OK, Red. Some have forgotten, but most of us here remember our kidhood and conversations with our dogs.

There are two types of people in this world. Those like this man and those like most of us. I’ll take ‘us’! Have a good day y’all!

Those nosy neighbors were the ones that kept crime down to a minimum.
