Autumn arrives in early morning, but spring at the close of a winter day. Elizabeth Bowen

Autumn is a second spring when every leaf is a flower. Albert Camus

Now Autumn’s fire burns slowly along the woods and day by day the dead leaves fall and melt. William Allingham

There is a harmony in autumn, and a luster in its sky, which through the summer is not heard or seen, as if it could not be, as if it had not been! Percy Bysshe Shelley

One of the reasons I like ‘Arlo And Janis’ is because in many ways I can relate to Arlo. I always bore my wife with trivia such as this, particularly historical bits of pretty useless info…and she tolerates it well…kinda like Janis. At least I know there are other guys with my ‘problem.’

to experience the seasons is to experience life, yes in the winter the deep dark winter when you are freezing you butt off you are experiencing death

I am a firm believer one needs seasons to maintain balance. Spring has more meaning if you’ve passed through winter.

1st Jan as New Year goes back to Roman times, but England celebrated it on 25 March until 1750s.1st Jan is the perihelion, where Earth is closest to the Sun – https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Perihelion_and_aphelion

Doesn’t take much to amuse our hero. He just can’t wait for those long winter nights. ;o)

Arlo is right! New Year’s eve depends more on culture, in which the end of one year and the beginning of the next are determined by convention. For my part, April 30 could easily be last day of the year, and March 1 new year’s day!

According to my brides birth certificate, she was born on September 22. (she wouldn’t want me to note the year) Her biological mother told her she was born at 10 pm in Michigan, so this is about as close as she will get to being born at the time fall starts. Just sayin’.

I am liking these characters more and more. I just wish Janis wasn’t so angry at Arlo when he wants some amorous adventure.
