And in the case of ad hominem attacks, 90% should strive not to care. Because 100% of them are crap.

Kelly was behind the bar when I walked in. She pretended not to see me as I walked to one of the small booths along the far wall. They were just big enough for four people. Five if you pulled up a chair. Nice and quiet, intimate almost. Practically soundproof. And the place was regularly swept for surveillance devices. The only cameras scanned the area behind the bar. Nobody made trouble at Chesire’s Grinne. Nobody wanted trouble there. But everybody was ready for it. Heinlein said it all the time. An armed society is a polite society. Patrons of C’sG were Very Polite. I waited quietly. She’d come by with a glass and a bottle soon. I didn’t come around here any more. If I did, then it was in her best interests and mine. She knew what was up. And now she knew that I knew. The Venn diagram of our common interests included Uncle Pete and the good chance that she was next in line for a quiet place in the country. Also, if Pete and Kelly were loose ends, then so was I. Connie was being generous with 10:7. It was more like 7:3. My only consolation was that he expected to win by betting on me.
