My father was a collector of African art. When I was a four year old in the early 40’s, one of his larger sculptures, an African chieftain’s stool, became my imaginary friend. I named him "ProperGander. " I still have it, a daily reminder not to believe everything you hear.
@stripedcat: Always fascinating how Congress rails away at the Medicare ‘takers’ and are very quiet about how little they pay into their own ‘for life’ medical insurance that guarantees them the very, very best. Medicare insurance still requires you to pay 20% copay (which is a lot, for cancer treatments) and can refuse to pay for something your doctor prescribes. Somehow, that never happens to Congresspeople. There is a separate budget for Congress. Their pay continues, even if the rest of ‘Gubmint’ is shut down. Some of us are just more equal than others (apologies to the writer who used the name George Orwell…)

If there is a blue wave, let’s hope it’s not reactionary with an eventual return to policies that do not please the public.

Sadly a lot of voters are influenced by propaganda and vote against their own interest.. time and time again..
