Doesn’t seem to be much point in hanging up towels you’re not allowed to use.

If Earl uses the guest towels, guests can use Earl’s towels. Do guests know the difference?

I feel much the same as Earl. The ‘good’ towels would have to be awfully useless for me to not use them.

Keep them in the guest house you don’t have for the people you don’t know who are too good for you.

If it’s a guest towel, it shouldn’t be put out unless you’re expecting guests. Family is told not to use them.

You put them out, you use them, if they get dirty you wash them, and you sit them out again. I don’t see the problem here.

When your a guest at someone else’s house and they have towels that are so decretive that they are obviously guest towels, then you as a guest don’t use them either. They are really just decoration. Total waist of space.

I try to say this as few times as possible, but I agree with Earl this time.

I attached a drawer pull to the vanity big enough for a small towel to absorb some of the initial dripping water so it isn’t slung onto the wall when reaching for the hand towel. And it works.

Going to have to go with Earl here. “Decorator” towels are like those hundreds of decorator pillows that are piled up on beds. What the heck do you do with those things when it’s time to sleep?

I think the saying “Use it or lose it” is fitting. So Opal, let Earl use the towels or lose them.

We use the boxed hand towels and stick them upside down on the towel rack. My mother still has guest towels, pretty much everyone ends up in the kitchen getting a paper towel so they don’t mess them up.

I have a friend who has a lovely display of towels in her guest bath. She also has a roll of paper towels on the counter so no one will use her displayed towels.

My wife does the same in our bathroom, in the master bedroom, where guests will never go. Maybe I’ll understand when I’m “one” with the universe

Reminds me of Army basic training in late 60s, early 70s. Footlocker top tray had all your “display” items you never used (fresh bar of soap, shaving brush, unused razor, etc.) underneath, you had all your stuff you used.

Instinctively anything laying around is considered icky and anything hanging on the towel bar available.

The decorative towels in houses where I have seen them tend to be layered with dust. And don’t get me started on carpet mats that surround a toilet.

They’re not guest towels, they’re decorator towels. No one is supposed to use them. They’re just supposed to make the bathroom look pretty. I think it’s a waste, and it confuses people, especially the guests, because they don’t know if they are allowed to use them. Just hang a clean towel by the sink. I agree with Earl, although I wonder why the towel he used is so wet it’s dripping.

Our rack has room for one towel.. if we have guests we put out a separate towel on the counter.. should they care to use it. And when my teenage niece comes we put out two.. seems her hair needs its own towel.

Now, if Opal leaves a dress hanging on a towel rack, is it fair game for Earl to use as a towel???? 8^)

Sorry Earl but you are WRONG in this…it’s a decorated towel for the holiday and NOT to be used. There are regular towels for that. Period end of discussion…my mom and grandma taught me this.

I don’t see the logic of keeping all the nice things unused. Why settle for the ordinary when we have the special and the unique ones to use?
