There was an earlier strip that had Charlie Brown apparently serving Snoopy turkey flavored dog food on Thanksgiving. Snoopy looked in the bowl, and asked, "No cranberries?
Back when this was new, the way to get a Thanksgiving dinner was to cook it at home… if old Joe Cool was around these days, he could just go to one of the restaurants serving the dinner and take his leftovers home with him… that said, I have work to do later on. :-P
Sometimes we think the ‘cool’/popular guy/gal, the one that has it ‘all together’ doesn’t need an invite. But sometimes the most ‘cool’/popular guy/gal doesn’t have much or even any home life. Check around you – maybe you will recognize them and give them an invite for tomorrow. Just remember ‘Joe Cools’ are people(dogs in Snoopy’s case:) too. And might be a lot more lonely than you would ever imagine.

That’s because “cool” usually means “isolated.”

Is it Thanksgiving in America? We had it over a month ago here in Canada.

This is one of Mr. Shulz’s best. He always had a way of showing the hidden pathos of life that we all endure in some way.
This strip reminds me of Edwin Arlington Robinson’s “Richard Cory.”

You can always buy a meal pass to the one dormitory that’s still open, Joe…

It’s Joe Cool’s table manners.

I think the introduction of Joe Cool was the beginning of the end for “Peanuts”. The strip became a Snoopy strip, and not a Charlie Brown one.

I sympathize. My son and daughter-in-law berated me for giving their dog some of the turkey.
