We make up our minds first and then hear only what agrees. Brainwashing runs up against a wall more real than the benefit of DJT’s would ever be (even if Mexico ever does decide to fund it as was promised).
If anyone learns to breach that wall, his side will win. He can even create his own side.
“The very powerful and the very stupid have one thing in common. Instead of altering their views to fit the facts, they alter the facts to fit their views…which can be very uncomfortable if you happen to be one of the facts that needs altering.” ~ Tom Baker
For the voter, elections are like: Diogenes wandered around ancient Greece carrying a lantern and searching for an honest man. Only in the end, to get mugged, again and again.
Isn’t that sort of the idea of a representative democracy? Find candidates with a philosophy of governance like you want and get them in office to represent you.

Humans take too long to learn, if at all. The climate-change deniers will finally decide to do something about it when Denver is underwater.

We vote for whoever slings the most dirt and yells the loudest. What would happen if only the issues could be discussed?
