Does Elly wear rings? Her hands usually seem jewellery-free. A friendship ring is an interesting idea. I don’t typically associate them with gifts for wives.
Not clear if John wants "For Elly, My Best Friend’ engraved or if he wants an engraving for Elly to read “My Best Friend.” The Jeweler may even ask: Okay, it’s for Elly, your best friend, what would you like me to engrave?
If John doesn’t speak clearly the ring may end up being engraved: Farley, My Best Friend.
At one time, pre-engagement rings were a hot item. But, there was one problem. Buy her an pre-eng. ring, then there isn’t much you can do except buy her an engagement ring. Then, there isn’t much you can do but get married. Then, there isn’t much you can do
That’s actually a sweet idea! I would have never thought about getting a friendship ring for your spouse. But that’s really great because you and your spouse really should be best friends.
My husband and I first met online, I was in America, he was in Australia. The first night we “met”, we spent all night talking in messages. And never stopped. We both think that’s why we’re still going strong 15 years later. It took me til 2009 to actually get to Australia. I wanted to move, he didn’t force me. And we’ll be married 10 years on June 20th, and still as much in love as ever, if not more.
So yeah, friendship and communication make strong bonds :)

I wonder which is more expensive: the ring or the engraving?

If she doesn’t wear rings, she can always make a necklace out of it.

Well chosen. It is always a good idea to let the ones you love know that you still like them. No fooling. Good on you!

Sweet strip. I suppose this is the beginning of Lynn’s rehab of John from an insensitive boor to the loving, caring man we saw in later years.

A smart man is also a friend to his wife. The physical attraction may fade for a variety of reasons, but friendship needs to never needs to die.
