Reminds me of the old joke about how to sculpt a statue of an elephant – get a giant block of marble and chisel off everything that isn’t an elephant… (Groan…)
I can remember going to downtown Baltimore with my grandmother and watching the girl make donuts in the dime store window. There was a machine that burped out circles of batter into hot fat. She’d turn each one over and them pick them up on a long stick and suspend the stick on a rack. Rinse and repeat. The aroma had people coming from all directions.

There’s a third way.
Place the dough in a salad spinner while baking.

Girls, donuts aren’t made with batter. They’re made with dough. Check their name. They’re not called batternuts.

Which was the object of the game, of course.
