Watching an older child walking with an open shoe laces I tend to say to him (never seems to be a her) that if he did not intend for his shoe laces to be open, he should know it is. I figure it makes me look like I am not a completely out of things, old lady – but if he did not intend for it to be open (which has been the case a few times) he won’t trip on his laces and get hurt.
