He wondered why her mother was looking so weird at them both, and then he realized his underpants were stuck on top of her hat.

(I actually had something similar happen in high school. My girlfriend and I came back from “parking”. We stood in the living room talking briefly with her mother. The whole time I thought, “Why is her mom looking at her so strange.” Her mom left the room, and it was then I noticed my girlfriend’s clothes were on inside out.
