When I was a kid in the 60’s, icing was just a shmear on the top, not a huge pile the way they are now.

I really dislike teeth-achingly sweet, smeary, sticky sugar glaze on donuts. Blechh! Just a coating of plain granulated sugar or a smear of chocolate icing on the Boston Cremes for me, thanks.
