I’m not so sure why Ripley would say that about sleep. There has been extensive research on sleep. We know we sleep so the body can repair damage and “reboot” the brain among other things. However, if the why is referring to why sleep is needed in order to do those things, then I understand.
Nonsense. There are numerous reasons, for example, while awake, lactic acid develops in our muscles making us tired. When we sleep, the process is reversed.
I find it interesting that somebody scientist want us to believe what they say and yet so often they really know so little. And are very often wrong at that.
