Step 1: Turn on the phone’s camera.

Step 2: Switch to the rear view camera.

Blame it on the internet and social media. I’ve always said “Use it. Don’t abuse it. If you’re in control, everything is fine.”

Frazz suggests that part of Caulfield’s frustration might be self generated because of the phone. If he didn’t have it, demands on his time and attention would be reduced to almost nothing, and he might no longer feel so many ‘demands,’ most of which are not worth the ringtone.

Well Caufield isn’t as addicted to his phone as he could be if he keeps it in his backpack and not in his pocket.

Years ago, my workplace had an in-service session on time management. The presenter made the case about perceived lack of time: “You have all the time there is.” It seemed trite at the time, but I keep reminding myself of it thru the years.

I love the irony of all of us discussing Caufield’s addiction or non-addiction to his phone while reading comics on the internet. Well done Jef, you got all of us.

Not quite what Frazz meant . . . but close enough.

The computer is addicting enough… now we have it worse with a portable, pocketable version (the smart phone) that is especially well engineered for play and/or goofing off…. and less well adapted for work.

As H.L. Mencken or whomever he stole it from said, for every complex problem there is an answer that is clear, simple, and wrong.

And really appealing, he did not add. Like blaming someone else. It doesn’t get more appealing, simple or wrong than that.

Oh, and in a little call-back to Monday’s reference to being waist-deep in crocodilians, the logo on Frazz’s shirt is for the Alligator Lighthouse Swim, off Islamorada, Florida. I don’t have such a t-shirt myself, but I sure would like to earn one one of these years. It sounds like a spectacular swim.

There is never enough time for everything, but there is always enough time for anything.
