Fireworks were invented in China around the 9th century…._
around half a millennium before Henry VII, who died in the early 16th century…. his son was Henry VIII.
They were used for all sorts of Chinese celebrations and events, and by the 12th or 13th century were described in both Asian and European writings and paintings….
which I’d think makes them fireworks “of record.”
Am I missing something… or do I just label this one a “Not”?
Trying to parse the “fireworks on display” phrase. Perhaps that gets you out of the fact that in China fireworks were common centuries prior to that European king’s wedding.
From what I have found, it seems as though Ripley left off the “In England” quantifier in reference to the fireworks. I was thinking that possibly he is referring to event related and while just having documentation of fireworks does not infer they were used. And King Henry VII’s wedding was the first “event” that documented the actual use and display of fireworks?
Many historians believe that fireworks originally were developed in the second century B.C. in ancient Liuyang, China. It is believed that the first natural “firecrackers” were bamboo stalks that when thrown in a fire, would explode with a bang because of the overheating of the hollow air pockets in the bamboo.

That’s funny – none of Henry VIII’s weddings produced much in the way of fireworks…

No one agrees to the terms and conditions of anything, They just answer yes (not knowing what they answered yes for) to to continue using the product.
