Our puppy had digestive problems for several months. She was put on a diet of rice, boiled chicken, and plain greek yogurt. Very messy but it worked. Of course first we tried all the GF, natural, most expensive, healthiest, etc. of dog foods.
In fact, I think rice is in a lot of the fancier dog foods out there. The dogs (they’re my brother’s dogs but they live next door) love to eat leftover white rice from the local Chinese food place…
“It only takes 100 grams of onion (about the size of a medium onion) per 20 kilograms of a dog’s weight to cause toxic effects, which means that a 45-pound dog would only have to eat one medium-to-large-size onion to experience dangerous toxicity levels.”
A nickel masses 5 grams, so 20 nickels’ weight of onion per 44.1 pounds of dog. I doubt the entire container of rice massed that, most of it water, then rice, then onon — if any. The dog will survive.

Yes to rice. No to onions. Onions kill dogs. There are usually onions.
