How true this is. I once visited a childhood hometown, and I could not believe how small that island was in the middle of the street. It was so big when I lived there.
I looked for a place I lived back in the 30s. Found it on Google Earth. Just a weed covered vacant lot. Another place was run over by an Interstate highway.
