Schroeder’s idolization of Beethoven led him to watch the movie of that name. Eating dog food was the first sign something was wrong. Then he began carrying a small barrel of brandy under his chin.

I see the war between Snoopy and Schroeder continues.

I’ve eaten dog food.

Fair trade. Does look like Schulz gave baby Schroder steak, mashed potatoes, and peas compared to Snoopy’s kibble.

Good grief that early Snoopy is a cutie pie of a dog!

Note that Schroeder’s hair, at this point in the strip, was drawn similarly to Charlie Brown’s. But in this after market coloring, the top of his head is made yellow. That was briefly tried on Charlie Brown, it may have been in a comic book and not the newspapers, but it was dropped. Many people assume CB is bald, but he’s not, and Schulz told me so himself. He has blond hair cut close.
