seeing it was originally published on the fifteenth of March, he’d be a day late for White Day, the Japanese reverse of Valentine Day (girls give boys chocolate on 2/14, boys give girls something white like white chocolate or marshmallows on 3/14 in return)

Well, CB can be kind of taxing.

Income tax filing (*) day was pushed out a month.

Apparently the tax code became more complicated (shocking, I know), and a lot of people needed the extra time.

Or maybe the rat bastards just got tired of the Ides of March comments.

Every day you earn taxable income is “income tax day”, thanks to tax withholding.

A temporary measure, until the end of WW2. Then we go back to paying a lump sum, all at once.

The U.S. still has troops in Germany and Japan, so I guess the war isn’t quite over yet. Amirite?

ICYMI – income tax was due on March 15, not April 15, from 1918 to 1955.

Could have been worse; Charlie Brown could have said “Trick or Treat.”

He already ate all the good ones; his grandmother gave him that for Valentine’s Day.

This is from 1954, so according to some of the comments above, that was income tax day. Good save, CB!

Anyway, he’s got the right idea — nothing will help me get through the process of filling out my tax return like a big box of chocolates!

Take the candy and say, “Thank you, Charlie Brown.” OK, maybe you should check first to see if he ate any before thanking him.
