I remember one year I had an all Kliban Cat Christmas: calendar, diary, towel, sheet set, nightgown, etc. I was all about Kliban that year, so it was all good. I still have the diary (filled) and a pillowcase.
watch it go ‘round and ’round and ’round and ’round. then get it going as fast as you can on the straightaways and see how far it can jump the track. invite Lucy over and have her lay on the track while you ram the train into her. sit inside the track and see how far you can watch it go around you without moving anything but your head. get your Beethoven bust and give it a ride or put it on the track and see if you can power it off the track………………………….all while playing Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No. 2
Schultz says his black keys are merely painted on (non functional) and then draws in the next panel a piece of music containing 3 flats (tons of black keys). That in itself is a punchline.
I miss the days when the humor in Peanuts came from very commonplace, adult comments like ‘black keys still painted on, I see’ – the kids having everyday adult conversations in the midst of their play.

I’d honestly be extremely interested to see a 12-volume comic book version of Beethoven’s biography!! :D

Very nice – a “Boxing Day” comic, even tho it’s 3 days early by this year’s calendar! :-)

Have it run around your piano while you play it and you can pretend you’re playing in the dining car.

Pretend people are taking it to see Beethoven in concert.

Poor Schroeder ….he’s missed his childhood for the painted keys…

Put it carefully back into its original box, wait 60 years and then sell it on eBay!

I see CB is much like my neighbour across the hall—if you get anything nice, they have to criticise it somehow.

Line a bunch of glasses around it with different levels of water in ’em then tie some mallets to the train so it plays “Für Elise” as it goes around

Load up the box cars with the packs of bubble gum, and deliver them to yourself.

Wouldn’t be surprised if Lionel did a series of box cars featuring famous composer about fifty years after this ran.

Montblanc made a series of pens commemorating composers a few years ago. I have a Mozart and a Beethoven.
