But it was a nice tribute to “Peanuts.” A true classic.

If he were really doing a “Peanuts” tribute, he’d have come home with a beagle…

Too bad they don’t put actual dates of originally publishing of comics. It kinda nice know what time in history these things came out.

Yeah, BA likes to alter pics in the background a lot. Since the latest comics here have been about Y2K, I knew ‘Peanuts’ had to finish near then. My quick lookup says their last comic was released Jan. 3 of 2000.

Odd of Andy to not explode herself, with all the dust around. She may have ingested too much tofu–or maybe Jason laced it with something, eh?

Except that the last “Peanuts” strip actually didn’t run until February 13, 2000, skeeterhawk. I remember that date because, by an almost creepy yet wholly appropriate coincidence, it was also the day that Charles M. Schultz died.

So Andi could either be referring to the date that the last “Peanuts” strip was finished or to the date that it actually ran. Given that we’re in early 2000 (strip-time), I’m guessing that it’s the former.

Since comic people seem to talk to each other a lot (remember the April Fools day where people drew each other’s strip), they were probably aware of Scultz decision to retire and made a strip to be as close to the last strip date as possible

@Colt9033 Actually the date is in the strip. At the bottom right of the first is the month then date. The year is the the second panel with the copyright information on the left side. So this strip was run on January 3, 2000. Exactly ten years ago.

Did anyone ever think that the 1-3 is today? The actual last strip was indeed Feb. 13, 2000.

If you look at the 2000 Cathy rerun for “today”, it too commemorated the end of Peanuts.

Infinite reruns of Peanuts is fine on the Internet, but it just takes up newspaper space for more deserving strips by living artists.

(Brenda Starr ended with class yesterday. Goodbye, Brenda, and best wishes for your future with Basil St. John.)

I think the last daily strip ended earlier than the last Sunday strip of Peanuts. He had done Sundays several weeks in advance.
