One of those moments that makes you question whether or not you have lived life to the fullest is when your wipers quit on you. Especially if you are driving on a freeway, at night, in a blinding rain.
My dad’s 53 Hudson had the worst wipers, powered only by vacuum pressure from the intake manifold, they were expected to fail – there was a lever on the dash for manual assist.

I had an early 70’s truck that had intermittent wipers. Sometimes they worked, sometimes they didn’t.
