The military has a strict weight rule and if you start leaning towards being overweight you get put on a program and made to get back in shape in a certain amount of time or you risk being discharged. I’ve never understood why law enforcement doesn’t implement the same idea. I can’t imagine having to chase someone with all the gear cops have to wear but to have that gear AND being overweight makes that part of your job that much more difficult.
It really bugs me to see fat, out-of-shape cops. It’s not the “couldn’t catch a bad guy” thing, it’s could they get anywhere in a hurry to help someone.
