Judging from her very specific description it appears that Elizabeth just stood there watching and analyzing the coffee drip all over the counter instead of putting the carafe in the coffee maker. John and Elly’s extremely shocked look in the last panel seems to be because Elizabeth is bright enough to know how to stop the coffee mess, but not bright enough to actually stop the mess. She’s a thinker, not a doer.
Sometimes not everyone takes coffee with them. We have a stainless steel pot and have to remember to dump out the old coffee so the new brew doesn’t overflow.
I’ve seen the coffee river at work on occasion. The only time at home was not positioning the pot under my water distiller correctly. Water clean up is easier.
We have a cool coffeemaker that doesn’t need a pot. There’s a little lever on it; you press the cup against the lever and the coffee pours in from the coffeemaker. We love it!
Lynn you are the greatest real people cartoon artist of all that I’ve ever seen! And I’m 78. So real, so true to life! Don’t change anything! And I am positive I’m speaking for all people that know you. Thank you! Your a real inspiration. Jim Chronister
I used to make the coffee at night for my ex and set the timer too. I don’t drink coffee, so decided he should do it himself. You got it.. He left the pot off, coffee allllll over the counter. Guess who got to clean it up? I’m sure he did that so that I’d tell him ‘never mind, I’ll just do it myself’. He was good for crap like that. :D
I’ve done that but with a single cup coffee maker. Still, the mess is hot, annoying and embarassing while all the other coffee wanters are waiting for me to clean up my mess.

Lynn’s Comments:
This happened. The strip saved our bacon many times—because the strip needed this kind of material, and I needed the outlet!

My husband started to do this for me years ago. I’m not half human till I have at least 2 cups down the hatch.

Or maybe she saw what had happened after the damage was done.

I’ve done it myself—ground beans when the bean catcher wasn’t in place—an avalanche of fine ground coffee on the counter!

Saw that coming. I’ve also not had the carafe set in straight so water backed up in the basket and went everywhere except in the carafe.
