I’m hearing what sounds like a meme here; “Cooperation means doing what you’re told.”

Hey, everyone! I got Endtown Volume 4 today. It covers the Edmund Fitzgerald ship and Endtown cannibalism stories.

There is a rationale for bureaucracies, but this isn’t it.

And someone’s stealing shoes…

Wally’s about to put his foot in it.

Welcome to “here.” Our motto is “If you’re not white-washed, you’re not washed enough.”

Wally’s not a cog in a machine. Too much “free spirit” can cause chaos in a community; too little can cause stagnation and decay. How healthy is Eden Colony if everyone is pigeonholed into roles and forced to stay in lock-step with everyone else? I understand the need for security and safety, but this seems a bit much.

Regarding the shoes comment…. a bit odd considering that all the colony residents are morphed into animals and not all those critter feet are suited for footwear. Now I’ll need to go back and read earlier strips to see if anyone in Endtown wears shoes.

Notice that last line isn’t “we’re not animals..”

Got my copy today!! Reading Time!!! This colony is definitely not embracing their animal side. Jacob would be very unwelcomed here. A cat footed Wally is not an acceptable behavior. No Shirt. No Shoes. No service. Wally and his crazy beatnik family just doesn’t fit in.

Yes Wally … we put people down there to work slowly because we got no work to assign to everyone … on a sidenot how do they make shoes for an oversized chicken like himself?

Wally is making a mistake in arguing with an desk bound beaurocrat. Rules for rules sake will be his bread and butter. This person will see any deviation from the proscribed norm as a threat to his existence.

Actually, they could have spray-on “shoes” that would fit any and all types of feet without requiring the foot to be held in an unnatural position while worn.

Wally thinks out of the box to do what he’s asked to do or needs to do for survival and does it with whatever resources he has available. That trait is not valued collectivist society.

Wally’s the kind of person who’d never trade his soul for a sole reason.

I don’t think Wally’s lizard friend wears shoes either.

This place reminds me of ‘A boy and his Dog’ except they haven’t descended as far down yet.

The shoe comment was a bit much, but otherwise? He’s not wrong.
