Yesterday I made a comment about a scientist in a bowling shirt offending people. I didn’t realize said shirt was covered with half naked ladies. Now I understand the outrage and think the guy was an idiot. Thanks to those who pointed it out! I will look closer at pictures from now on.
Both Berkeley Breathed and Pastis focus on this theme a lot. I have to wonder, since no distinction is made between truly offensive comments as opposed to hypersensitive people, whether these strips refer back to a comment the cartoonists have made that didn’t get a good reaction…
Repeat after me: “Being offended is not the same thing as being hurt.” (Then, repeat twenty trillion times!) That said, there is no doubt that bigotry and intolerance are on the rise (due partially to a Russian agent), which does not bode well for the country………..
“And if thine eye offend thee, pluck it out, and cast it from thee: it is better for thee to enter into life with one eye, rather than having two eyes to be cast into hell fire.”
First of all it is a tire swing not an inner tube swing. Second, the trade off between free speech and political correct (or what my mother would call politeness) will always be with us. I personally surport both.

Hey, why don’t you give that inner tube swing a good hard SHOVE and see how far you can LAUNCH Opus.
Then We can find out if Penguins can “Fly.” ;)

This reminds me of Cole Oyl, Olive’s father in the Popeye movie… “you owe me an apology!”

Flying is nothing more than trying to fall and hit the earth, but missing it. Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy. Douglas Adams.

Some people go through life looking to be offended. Successful people find ways to overcome offenses.
