So how does the original George keep them straight when they’re in the same room and he needs to talk to one in particular? (What’s the science behind redheads requiring more anesthesia?)
Well, I hope when the anesthesiologist is getting ready to medicate a redhead, I hope they ask first if they’re a natural redhead or if it comes out of a bottle. I’m guessing they mean NATURAL redheads need more.
All people need different amounts of anesthetic to get the same effect. The variation is huge, but normally not precisely adressed. There are some basic rules they follow, as age, sex, and weight. And statistically, one knows, that the average amount needed by redheads is considerably higher than the amount needed by blondes. Which doesn’t tell you who will need more anesthetic if you have two individuals, as it could be, the dark-haired person could need more than the redhead for the same effect. BTW, its not correct to say that one needs more anesthesia (which is the process), but more anesthetic (which is the substance).
I am a redhead and awoke during surgery and cussed the doctor out. He gave me more anesthesia. It also takes four times the amount of Novocain for me for dental procedures…or I bite.

So George really loved his name or honestly couldn’t think of any alternatives? Sad in many ways. Son number five is George number six.

Really? Why do they require more anesthesia?

I beg to differ. My older sister is a redhead and she’s always been anesthesia sensitive. She requires far less.
