The discontinuity is bugging me. Spock had a pointy nose, this version is smush-faced with white. Cats face shapes don’t change, and even black cats don’t grizzle. Besides he is not that old anyway in strip years. almost feels like someone else is drawing him.
Looks like Spock is related to one of my cats. Chloe will eat one food on Monday, and turn her nose up at the same food a couple of days later. It’s always a guessing game trying to determine what she will deign to eat. And don’t even think about giving her the same thing two days in a row.
For a moment, I thought that that cat might not be Spock after all; it was possible that Mark had Spock pass away in the hidden years between grade school and middle school given that his cat passed away years ago, and Dean just got a new one. The dish confirms I was wrong.

Come to think of it, the old Spock was still cute and kittenish. The new Spock is more cat (Cybil) like — so maybe he has just grown up too.
