Sinking money into a garden is like sinking money into a sailboat.But ’Totally Impractical" would be a good name for a sailboat.

Garden or sailboat, it’s what it does for your mind and/or body. (After obligations are taken care of) Sit around and you rust out.

I can see that Janis feels better since Arlo admitted it’s his fault.

Sailboat is a hole in the water you throw money into. What is it they say the two happiest days in a boaters life? The day he buys it and the day he sells it. Been there and both were true.

One of the things I love best about Arlo his his willingness to ’fess up to his faults. Janis is pretty lucky.

I imagine that the best spouses are always totally impractical and are more work and expense than expected. It’s what makes marriage fun.

Arlo, just go to a big box garden center and surprise Janis with a couple of pre-made blooming container plants!

Having ripe blueberries all year is worth the effort. I freeze about 50 qts each summer.

Sorry Arlo… you’re expensive and impractical, we’re gonna have to let you go.

We have a small yard. My Patio Garden is my happy place. The hardest work is the planting, but then all you do is water, and occasionally fertilize – you don’t have to pull weeds when they are all in pots. You can find inexpensive plants and flowers. Janis is forgetting that this will bring her joy in a few weeks.I’m shocked that Janis is giving in to defeat already. I thought she was stronger than this!

Wise comment from Arlo, much better than “I told you so”.

I have the same problem. But, mine involves comic books.

Boat name: wet dream

The great thing about a patio garden is that you can make it as large or small as you want. We have 2 pots on our patio and they are not much work at all.

I’ve always been of the opinion that any plant I tend to had better produce food or some other tangibly useful product (flowers are good, some are edible, and most can be used in arts/crafts). Most edibles are great in containers.

The only ornamentals I have grown were habaneros and jalapenos.

Hot peppers are NOT edible or useful in my book.

I just thank goodness that I am married to the same kind of guy as Arlo.

I found cutting out the sides of bags of potting soil and planting seeds in them worked great. My husband put them up on tall wooden horses with a board across and I planted all summer long. No weeds, no bugs, no critters.
