Things are looking better today. There’s a setting in AdBlock that addresses what it refers to as “non-intrusive” ads. They apparently have a different notion of what that means. Anyway, telling AB to block those as well produces a much better experience here.
I expect after a while I’ll buy the pro version, just in case that griping muttering in my head is some sort of vestigial conscience.
