As a student POW in survival school, they taught us about the different interrogation techniques that our captors would try to use on us. Good Cop, Bad Cop was one of the most effective.
Anyone who believes in using “enhanced interrogation” (I.e. torture) to gather intelligence doesn’t know what he is talking about. A person who is being tortured won’t tell you what you need to know; he will tell you what he thinks you want to hear. It is not an intelligence-gathering technique; it’s a political tool.
