Warbucks clearly doesn’t want to talk about Trixie, so that subject is closed. As for Honeymoon, I think Annie might also be dipping her toes into the detective stuff soon. Honeymoon has influence.
Daddy, if you want Tracy to find your missing wife you better supply enough info, recalling Tess’ VERY short marriage to Nuremoh sounds definitely petty. But maybe Daddy is not interested in finding Trixie.
Tess married Nuremoh in a rebound because Tracy sounded much more interested in his career than marrying her. Nuremoh married Tess to met the requirements of the family’s matriarch who wanted him to marry out of pure love yet refused to approve marriage with the girl Ed actually loved (WTF?). Ed killed the matriarch when another possible heir came from Africa, trying to pin it on his dimwitted brother. The marriage was celebrated before the matriarch whose dead condition no-one noticed until after the ceremony. (?) Tess figured Ed’s guilt soon enough (he left an avalanche of clues), confronted him and was chased by him, who tried to kill her but accidentally killed Lola his true love.ED jumped down a cliff with Lola’s body and Tess (understandably) went temporarily insane. Apparently, the marriage lasted less than 48 hours.
I am not certain, but I believe that when a police officer is conducting an investigation it is his/her job to say when the conversation has gone on long enough and not the person being questioned. (Although at that point Daddy can call in his mouthpiece/lawyer to talk for him.)
Later, the pair will issue a joint communique stating that the first day of talks, while not producing an immediate agreement, were very productive and significant progress was made…
But all this so far has been in the nature of chit-chat between old friends catching up. What would be so hard about saying “Oliver, we need your help to find Trixie, because apparently she is a witness in a murder investigation, and her sworn deposition document has gone missing.” ?
1- TRACY: Ummm, Daddy? Will I inherit anything when you pass? 2 – WARBUX: Pass? Like gas? Pass you on the freeway? In the hall? What’re you talking about. 3- TRACY: DIE! WHEN YOU DIE YOU OLD FOOL! WARBUX: Oh! Well then no. I’m leaving everything to charity. TRACY: You use her services too?!? Yuck! WARBUX: What? TRACY: Wait. What?
Tracy is clearly not going to get the info he needs from Oliver Warbucks with this approach. I wonder why Tracy didn’t tell Warbucks right away it was an official police matter and Tracy needed some info about Warbucks second wife.
A casual conversation between friends takes a hard turn to talk about The Kids. Daddy plainly does not want to discuss whatever he may know of what happened to Trixie. Tracy may have to play it straight with Warbucks; he’d probably respond better to that, given his sense of honor….
I’ve been gradually re-reading every DT story. After 2 1/2 years of alternating between Gould’s original run, the post-Gould pre-GoComics period, and every story DT story available on GC, I’ve recently finished all the Gould stories and the post-Gould pre-GC stories, and now I’m just reading the remaining stories in GC. Today, August 31, 2023, there’s a mention of Edward Nuremoh in the current DT strip, and on that same day I’m reading this story…with a mention of Edward Nuremoh.

Arrogant “Daddy’s” smart, I give him that. Classic move to flip the script and make it about Tracy!
Clueless Dick just got schooled!

Yes, and Prof. Emirc is Crime spelled backwards. Many examples exist. The Nuremoh story moved BTW, unlike the present one.

Instead of asking “what happened with Trixie?”, Tracy should have asked “where is Trixie living nowadays?”

Look forvHoneymoon and Annie to get the info on Trixie…

Apparently Tess’s first spouse — with a name that’s “homerun” in reverse — didn’t exactly knock married life out of the park.

Just had an idea…..why not put it out on the street that Tracy’s trying to find Trixie and that Warbucks is in town?
Maybe B.B. Eyes will do something stupid that gets him caught.
