Dad always had those thin, cotton “dress” socks. All black, so any two socks matched. I like my socks a bit thicker.
My grandfather’s socks were too large for his feet so they stood 30 years in the hall
When my sons were teens and we were going somewhere fancy (or somewhat fancy), I’d have them wear their dad’s dress socks since they didn’t want any of their own.
