Happy Mother’s Day to you all! Missing my mommy a lot today, and everyday! My sisters and I had so much fun buying her presents and cooking her favorite foods. She’d get mad at us for buying her so much but we couldn’t help ourselves. She gave up so much and went without so much while we were growing up, we tried to make it up to her. One year she said all she wanted was a pitchfork to turn over her compost heap and chicken manure for her garden. She was so funny! She used to say “the only good thing I got out of life were my girls.” She was our Sun and we were the planets orbiting around her. :’(
The two surviving skunks have been sighted, one is pregnant. They continue to be accepted citizens of the Empire.
Felix, AC’s less than honorable lieutenant, had to be disciplined yet again. AC was sitting in the pen in which we keep the baby ducks. He likes to hang out with them.
Felix jumps in and is slowly edging up on the ducklings, tail a-twitch.
AC stays quiet, just watching Felix out of the corner of his eye. Felix slowly edges closer and closer – until he’s almost alongside AC – WHAM! The Iron Paw yet again explains to Felix that killing and eating members of the family is something he forbids.
Orange tomcat training continues, group expeditions to the nearby pond and river for tasty frogs and crayfish continues.
Now, here’s an interesting thing…
…Pat uses her tablet in bed at night (I bought her a 10" Fire with an extra tough case that might even be able to protect it from her – she actually managed to bend the last tablet I bought her as well as cracking the screen.)
AC has joined her, he’s relaxing. Pat watches him. She’s listening to Spanish classical guitar on one of the earbuds (she has no hearing in one ear.) The other earbud is loose on the pillow.
Here’s the odd thing. AC is actually using his paw to pull the earbud up to where he can listen to it. He readjusts it a number of times so that it doesn’t slide of of listening range.
He actually seems to be lying there, head on pillow, (tongue sticking out a little – he does that when he’s particularly relaxed,) ear against the ’bud, listening to the music.
This goes on for half an hour.
If only that individual could talk. There are a lot of questions I’d like to ask him. I have a feeling that Shakespeare may have had the right of it when he made that comment about “More things in heaven and earth…”

Alpha Cat Update
The Empire of the Iron Paw continues to prosper.
