Not only that, working late is always a good excuse unless said teenager has been known to abuse it, saying they were having to work when they’re surfing or tanning on the beach.

When I went to college, I put in a 40+ hour weekends at work. Didn’t have to be nagged at home. I liked it that way.

I say leave the kid alone! He has a job; first responsibility is to his employer, the duties required and whatever other duties may arise. The young man is displaying proper character and commitment. Father should not expect “home” chores completed on what is obviously a work day. Weekend; perhaps? Also; father should be thankful he has a responsible son who is able to keep a job. Believe me, you don’t want that kid hanging around when he is in his thirties!

It’s not Baldo’s fault that he had to work extra hours

Baldo had to WORK late, Dad. He wasn’t goofing off. Shout at his boss.

So let me get this, he is in trouble for working late? How would he foresee he’d have to do that? Dad jumped in and washed the car, which could have waited, and cleaned the garage, which also could have waited for the son to do.

So Sergio assigned washing the car, cleaning the garage, and mowing the lawn on a day he knew that Baldo had a shift at work – and then chastises him for not handling everything? What was Gracie doing all afternoon?

Hey – go easy on him, Pops! He has a job!
