She has a point. Marketing. It’s all in finding your market audience and selling to them.

Genius is not always recognized overnight. The “stable” kind is not recognized ever.

Ups, I was doing great until “Egon Schiele”. Now that I’ve looked him up, I’ll remember to avoid him in the future.

As my composer BIL once said when asked why he writes music, he replied “Because I must!” Artists of any sort have got to express themselves whether they become rich from doing so or not.

So to Dana, money = worth, and if it doesn’t make you rich you might as well not do it at all.

Michelangelo was famous and respected, Bernini was rich, Canova, Rodin, Adolfo Wildt, Arman, Henry Moore, Manzù, Igor Mitoraj were all great geniuses and weren’t poor. Of course, they were all sculptors and not painters.

The other thing they have in common: They’re all men. There are plenty of female artists, and some are even famous.

For someone who lived on the street to avoid the trappings of immense wealth she seems to have had a slight change in her viewpoint.

Isn’t Charlene a great mechanic and married to a dentist?

It is interesting that one uncaring about her personal wealth is interested in improving the personal wealth of another.

Dana is sometimes a bit hard to deal with, but her heart is in the right place, it seems.

Hence the many “You want fries with that?” jokes surrounding people with Arts degrees. It is rare that aesthetics puts food on the table, and then it’s usually in some frivolous manner involving pandering to the ego of someone who has money. Interior decorating, patronage, protegees (patronage from the other side), commissioned art, etc.Now that I read through it, I guess any business is pandering to someone who has money, lol. You want fries with that?

The greatest art pieces become much more valuable once the artist dies.

They were all well paid for their work. However, like a lot of sports figures, they couldn’t manage their money.

I think Dana is gonna do something that honors those who had nothing when they died. It will have an impact on the homeless in some way. I think that’s what she is getting at in this instance! I’ll bet!!
