Maybe today’s strip is simply to energize the reader’s creative thinking/curiosity? Another one made just as much sense, but maybe I’m not fully awake. Oh yes I am!
If this happens to your cell phone, turn it off at once, dunk it in distilled (not tap or drinking) water for a couple of minutes. Shake as much water out as you can, then plunk it into dry rice for 24 hours. Your cell phone should survive. One of the ideas of making a smart phone functional again after it gets wet is to put it in a closed container of uncooked rice to act as a desiccant and dehumidifier for the internal circuitry.

You apparently have never dropped your cell phone in water. The standard remedy is to cover it with rice for about a day. It works.

Back when pagers were the rage, I knocked one into the toilet just as I was flushing. I went to my provider and let them know and I got a new one.

I don’t get it either. Is that supposed to be some kind of laxative? But how would that help?…

Rice is a desiccant it can be used to try out electronics if they get wet.

This a major part of why I keep both lid and seat down on my toilet when it is not in use.

Doesn’t work anymore. If the LCI is triggered, either you have insurance or you are facing a doozy of a replacement bill.
