There are three ways to diagram the sentence “Time flies like an arrow.” The first is the one you would expect; the second is the “time flies” as flies that Rufus just did, and the third is an imperative sentence “[You] time flies like [you would] an arrow”. A 1960’s computer program did that.
This makes no sense, even for a normal R&J appearance. If he’s been playing this particular guitar since 1972, and assuming Rufus has been in the band for some years, how is the idiot just now noticing the guy’s “new” guitar? I mean, I know Rufus is dense, but c’mon!
I’m more intrigued by whom the inspiration was for Ruthless’ musical colleague. Hamilton Camp? Doug Dillard? Merle Watson? Can’t go wrong with any of them!
i dont get this one. If he has been playing that guitar since 1972 is Rufus so stupid he just now notices it? Also why would hyou call a guitar you have had for 18+ years new. This strip is poorly written to force yet another Rufus is mentally handicapped joke.
My son had a Marshall steel string acoustic that was stolen from him. He’s still upset about it! But when my dad died he left him his 1934 Gibson ssa with the f holes. Beautifully restored & the loss of the Marshall hurts quite a bit less these days. Dad’s guitar sounds like heaven and looks it too!

If Rufus and Joel become aware of the actual year, do they turn to dust in a temporal paradox?

Note that Joel’s coat and Rufus’s hat are the “normal” colors. The daily colorist should get the hint.

So is that suppose to be Jeffrey Lewis? I don’t really know who he is, but apparently he does have a song with the lyrics “time flies like an arrow”.
