Does the fact that the emotional climax occurs BEFORE the ball reaches the basket imply anything about the eventual outcome of the sequence? If the ball fails to go through the basket, does that constitute an emotional anti-climax? I particularly appreciate the fact that in every panel the orientation of the ball is identical, though the “motion lines” (while only virtual and in fact not as “real” as the ball itself) shift position and orientation. Thank you, OJ!
I wonder is Olivia is trying to break the record for the longest storyline in comic strips. If she keeps it up a little longer it’ll be 4 months following this basket ball story.

I passed up a perfectly good climax joke today out of respect for the general class and style of our esteemed assembly.

I will be accused of hyperbole, but this may be my all-time favourite strip.
It’s almost certainly my favourite of the OJ era, and the comments over the past few weeks only make it funnier.

This strip best when read to Chariots of Fire

Nancy is taking the shot. The ball is slowly, EVER so slowly approaching the hoop. Will she actually make the shot?

I worry a tad that the motion lines appear to indicate a potential miss…. but I am rooting for Esther’s success!!!!
I wonder if we have ever seen an eight panel weekday strip before?!? So very Sunday-esque. :)

It’s either nearing the basket or the drinks cooler.

“Ten seconds” is like a half-court shot that bounces on the rim several times.

Oh no, I didn’t notice the numbers and I read the panels in the wrong order!
