My two have their inside and outside voices completely backwards. Inside always feels like the bonus strip. Anytime we’re outside, especially in a public place like a park or in Costco it usually goes like this:Kid “mumble mumble mumble.”Me “What?”Kid “mumble mumble mumble.”Me: “Speak up, I can’t hear you.”Kid: “I HAFTA GO POTTY!!!!”
I would tell kids that outdoors it was fine to YELL, but not to scream. Yelling meant words, Screaming was a sound that meant danger. I told them unless a bear was chasing them or a space alien, yell, don’t scream!
Reminds me of my great nephew. Always YELLING NO MATTER WHERE HE WAS. It really started to get on my nerves and I was on the brink of saying something, but then I realized how loud his Mom was… Yup, he’d learned it from her. Had to yell to be heard over her…
