This fad is complete nonsense. Tossing everything that doesn’t “bring you joy” just means that when you start feeling depressed (as we all do from time to time), you’ll end up throwing out all your possessions. And then you’ll have to buy them back again when you feel better and start wanting to use it again.
A boon for the retail industry. Really dumb for everybody else.

Joy, schmoy. Do you have a use for it? It would be hard to open cans without my can opener, but it’s not exactly a joyful experience.
