It’s only right that your ability to sneak and snoop and look ahead on the Comics Kingdom viewer has been taken away. Locher has been carefully and craftily building suspense in this, his final, glorious story arc. It would be a travesty for any of us to refrain from sitting here and allowing Locher to doll out the suspense at the rate he intended.
I think of this saga as having a five-act structure, like Shakespearean tragedy.
Act One (lasting 15 days): Dick Tracy gets in a car
Act Two (17 days): Dick Tracy drives the car into a lake
Act Three (21 days): Dick Tracy gets out of the lake
Act Four (27 days): Dick Tracy gets in out of the rain
Act Five (now until March 14): The criminal dies a gruesome death.
So, who would win a Bizarro-world plot race (where the winner is the one who can go the shortest distance in the longest time): Dick Tracy or Spiderman?
Into the future I have peered
And my eyes have been seared
What still is to come
Will surely strike you dumb
Disbelief will be the order of the day
Further will you be filled with dismay
Though you think I am black of heart
What befalls, to you I shall not impart
Giant creatures rise from the water
Seeking Mordred and Tracy there to slaughter
Foul denizens from the deep
Upon the shore, silently creep
With savage fury the battle closes
Keeping them on their toeses
With chain and gun they do fight
Pitted together in their spite
A smashing blow from a huge right claw
May spell doom for the law
Blood and gore wash the room
When there comes a mighty FLOOOM!
The sun rises over a crumpled wreck
Of life, there’s not a speck
The rain is gone, the waters subside
Chalky faces stare glassy eyed
Has the duo met their fate
Wouldn’t that be really great
But at the top, you I assured
Of what comes, I’ll say not a word.
Thank you, billdi, woodworker318, BillT and M. Mitchell Marmel,
The storm may be getting over someday. Apparently the eye has passed and the winds are blowing the granary to the right today, although it could return tomorrow.
I have seen the granary for months now and have not seen one OF ANY KIND of grain like wheat, barley, oat, rye , or even corn which is kept in a crib, but maybe locher is even un aware of that fact too. Maybe the rats have eaten it all up and then departed the building as they could feel a storm in the making.
I like Wndrwrthg line- “With Savage Fury the battle closes
keeping them on their toeses”.
It made me think of my top paragraph when he mentioned FURY.
Great as always, WW!
“Giant creatures rise from the water”…
Could these be Mordred’s cohorts and victim’s families? If not, where are they and the decoy cars? Will we ever find out?
Shame ComicsKingdom isnt up anymore. I was enjoying seeing the suffering that is to come. Maybe this is a good thing, bringing in a new era of Tracy that will not be horrible. We can only hope.
But I like Wonder Warthog’s suggestion as much as I like his poem. Vengeful creatures rising from the waters–maybe the “granary” is just the tip of Ry’leh, returning from eons beyond the sea.
So Comics Kingdom is gone . I do not see any difference in looking forward a week in advance when we already know that the arc is not progressing at all . The only suspense is , how many more time will we see the granary and will Thick fall asleep .
“Egad! What happened!” Thicks says as he faces the dreaded names of Locher & Brozman. But when asked how the Dick Tracy legacy has sunk so low, they can only remain silent and try to fade into the woodwork (bon appetit, termites!)
Panel #3 isn’t the usual alligator drawing of the granary, but the entirely different level drawing. This drawing first appeared on 29 January and shows the granary without a tilt to the side. Maybe Locher wore out the alligator panel.

Okay, who’s speaking in panel #3? Thick? Morbid? Or is this one of those romantic-comedy moments when the two lovers say the same clever line together?

Well, at least Mordred isn’t The Blank! It’s a good thing that the lights aren’t out in the old abandoned granary!

Forget about “egad,” let’s talk about Eegah:

Eegah is more interesting, and more believable, than this strip.
But there are giant, horrifying hands.

I’m not a big fan of this strip as it is, but I won’t slag off Dick Locher. I hope I’m still capable of working when I’m 82.
We can all name quite a few so called celebrities whose facial surgery has’nt turned out too well.

Maybe. Or maybe the alligator got hungry and went looking for the Pig on Wheels.
