Can’t help but notice that the alternatives Steve Kelley suggests as desirable alternatives to the United States, are all countries that enjoy:
• Universal public health care
• Universal public education through college
• Gun safety laws
These are all things that Steve Kelley has whined, whined, whined about being “free stuff,” but even he seems to recognize that countries who have adopted these policies not only work successfully, but are desirable options.
So why are there so many Americans who think the U.S. is so much less competent or less capable or less worthy, that they think WE CAN’T DO THE THINGS THAT EVERY OTHER INDUSTRIAL NATION ON EARTH CAN DO.
II don’t usually disagree with what you write, and this isn’t really a disagreement. You said “so many Americans who think” that we can’t do those things. I think we’d find the truth of the matter is that “so many Americans” are afraid to rock the boat. This is a great country, but it is delicately balanced on the status quo, where the rich keep on getting richer on the backs of the workers. The workers seem happy to be able to pay the mortgage and take a vacation. Some rise up the ladder and make very good salaries, and are able to buy bigger boats. The truly wealthy have a hard time deciding which yacht to take out for the weekend.
I wonder, Mr. Kelley, where you intend to flee to if the Republicans don’t win the 2020 elections.
FWIW, though I’ve seen stuff in the media about people threatening to abandon the US if the fascist machine is further empowered in that election, none of the individuals I know personally are even considering it. They all plan to stay and fight to regain our Constitutional democracy, if it comes to that.

Why do they think so little of our country?

Obviously, SKELLEY thinks that Democrats debating issues is as bad as Trump tweeting racial insults.

That would be a more serious question if the Rump were to be reelected.

That’s the 64 thousand dollar question if Donny is re-elected. A bit premature.

Thinking Portugal or Ecuador or wherever we can bring our dog – New Zealand is wonderful but too far away anyway.

My father moved my family to Canada in 1967. Thanks Dad. I’m glad you’re not here to see what it’s like now ‘back home’.

My choices: Perth, Wellington or Campbell River.

“Sean” Kelley seems to think in the same ‘stream’ as #45!

I love my country. I’ll consider Canada if the socialists take over, though.

Perhaps we could recreate what works there right here instead. We could start by sending trump and his supporters back to where they came from.

If all the rational Americans left, can you imagine what would be left? They have to stay put and solve this mess.
