Ah. Is April on the way?? I thought she wasn’t due for a couple more years. It’s either the flu or April. Since the strip runs on real-time, it makes sense that April arrives in 7 more months…if she’s already 8 weeks pregnant without realizing it. A lot of women do not realize they’ve missed their monthly and get surprised with a pregnancy.

And so it begins… .

I guess this means 3 weeks have passed, since the Elly we saw yesterday had mental and not physical issues. Now let me think if we saw Elly and John doing anything romantic over the last 2 months. Nope. Not even once. Maybe Elly is actually sick. It is possible for a woman to get sick where it does not mean pregnancy.

Hmmm, sick in the morning. Not sick all day. Just morning.

Elly’s about to give birth to the sanest character in the whole series.

It’s funny. The plot device has always been, “Either you have the flu, or you’re pregnant.” When I found out I was expecting my first, I also had the flu…so I had BOTH!

I think Elly would rather have either of the other two!

Lynn’s Comments:

I’ve told this story before, but here it comes again! I was beginning to regret having the characters age in real time. I was losing the art and sweet comedy of “the baby days.” My young characters were speaking in adult language and having adult concerns. I talked to Cathy Guisewite (“Cathy”), and she suggested that Elly should have another baby. I argued that I only had two kids in real life and didn’t know what it would be like to have three. She said, “Lynn, it’s a comic strip. Make it up!”

How does that happen?

Darn, I was going to comment a few days ago that there was going to be another child coming, but i didn’t! I also remember another dog and what happened with April and Farley.

If I remember correctly, there will be a huge snowstorm in 7 months!

A lot of spoilers today, but that’s okay. This is the first hint of April’s coming arrival. I will agree wholeheartedly that we are in for a fun few months.

Huh we’re going to go through this like we did last week with “Baby Blues”. This seems to be “pregnant month” for the strips.

Yay, it’s April in September! I was a college student when this story first ran and I read it every day in the newspaper on the bus to the university.

Looks like Elly’s shedding dandruff in the last panel. At least it’s not white, so it will blend in with her top.

Here comes April! Elizabeth was about 9 when April was born, so I think she’s on schedule!
