I grew up in the âDuck & Coverâ decade â I remember hiding under my school desk for drills and being assured that doing so would âprotectâ me from those nasty, old bombs and their fallout (yeah, right!)
I was also employed for thirty-five years with a company who was considered a âDefense Contractorâ and so the building in which I worked was considered a âDefense Facilityâ. And the guards at the doors were instructed to shoot anyone without a badge pass attempting to enter in the event of a national emergency â and on the corner of our building was one of those âFallout Shelterâ signs (and, yes, we had the requisite âfallout shelterâ supplies in our sub-basement!)

Depending on how you see things, the signs might have been visible for decades.

Itâs your fault, Lio, always setting off those nuclear devices in the nearby lands. You have inspired the signage. It will adaptâŠ.
