The only reason to rake leafs in South Texas at this time of year is that they dried up and fell off the tree due to the drought. Supposed to be 105 F. today where I live.
The proper response to the question, “Do I have to?” is actually, “No, you don’t HAVE to – you ALWAYS have a choice – you can either do as I requested – or move out.”
Had a blast as kids raking the leaves into pile and jumping in the piles and then doing it all over again and then cleaning the piles up for our mom’s and dad’s.

Both reasons seem reasonable.

Better to mow/mulch the leaves, it makes for a healthier lawn.

Trees still look green thee and it is still summer here – Maybe those are leftovers from last year?

I used to tell my kids that if I can’t make you do your job, I’ll make you wish you had. That usually worked.
