I will tell you to feel the way you must feel, but also to take care of yourself. you cannot let it consume you.

I thought I was doing ok with my mom’s death. I cried a little but I thought I was handling it. Then I visited her grave. I blubbered like a baby.

This is truly well said, and important to say. Everyone is entitled to their feelings without platitudes and discouragement.

Words can never encompass all that a hug can. Only an embrace can help another bear their grief.

What people say aren’t necessarily platitudes, at least they don’t mean them as such. It’s just that they must say something, or the grieving one will take silence to mean something it doesn’t. It’s a no-win situation for everyone.
