An interactive map of the intersecting realities, perhaps, so long as he is wearing the gloves and goggles? Looking at panel 4 and the expression on Wally’s face; I’d be freaking out too!
Some of the squares cross edges but those intersections are not circled. Are those circled intersections pathways between the squares? Funny how Wally’s hand look like a muppet hand…….
Duffy has no clue that Wally just sunk his hand into the map. That freaked Wally out for sure. Who knew that it was a three dimensional map. Apparently many of those overlapping circles are on different layers and not just drawn on top of each other. I’m sure Duffy had no clue that it was 3D when Ravenscroft was working on it and couldn’t have clued Wally in on it.
After some research I think I found were Wally saw a similar design. Book 4 page 10 back when Flask was sabotaging the missile. She had a small hand device which displayed a similar pattern. More rounder but similar. Later on page 16 when Flask enters the Topsider base there is a larger screen manned by mutts with circular interlinked patterns. Flask placed her device on the screen center like a reprogramming attempt. Wally was not there but did see the small screen Flask held. Wally was busy installing the connection chip in the missile. While these patterns Ravenscroft drew are more squares they do bare a resemblance in design.
Look carefully at the third panel what you are seeing is that the surface with the writing is now uplifted by the glove, with the writing on the surface casting a shadow on the underlying surfaces (glove, wall, etc). So the gloved hand not only penetrates the writing surface, but lifts it up. This is a very, very cool effect, Mr. Neathery!!
The 4th panel is just the view that you might have From the other side of the surface, showing Wally’s reaction to what he sees in the 2rd panel, and that Duffy sees nothing. And neither do we on the other side see the writing!
Here’s a thought…..if those are Topsider gloves……why are they three fingered? Topsiders have 4 fingers…..unless they mutate then the pinkie one just flops about.
He’s warping the space by inserting his hand. Careful touching that mirror, Wally – the Matrix has you! No telling what might happen – you might find out you’re a D-cell battery.
The second and third panels look like they might be photos of a hand in a textured rubber work glove. Does this increased realism imply that the goggles look into some “realer” world? And is Wally also freaking out because he also saw four fingers (and thumb)?

Who’s looking out from the map at Wally in the fourth frame? Is it Wally looking at Wally?

If Wally ordered something from the “Amazing Values” ad, would they deliver it to him in this place?
