I wonder if Harry Belafonte wanted to record a song about this.

You “say” just fine, CB. It’s Sally’s “hear” that’s off kilter.

Or you could write about how the gravy boat slides into the harbor.

I think the pendulum has swung too far the other way. My kids are being assigned books that they would be disciplined (#metoo and all that) for reading aloud in the hallway.

The good news is that Sally knows the word “arbor”, the bad news is that she does not know what it means.

Is that where they got the “apple bushes”? Rock snakes? And gully cats? They all came over in a grape boat… :-P

I bet the boat’s name is “Wrath”. that’s right, she’s writing about the grapes of Wrath.

If she were a little older and the Internet existed, she could have written about why this book was banned. Dang bunny bigots!

If you say nothing, Charlie, you let your little sister look foolish. How will she feel when the other kids in her class laugh at her? How will she feel when she realizes her big brother was smart enough to prevent it, but didn’t?

I believe this line became the basis of the Peanuts special, “It’s Arbor Day, Charlie Brown.”
